Thanks in good part to its outstandingly high water quality, the Upper Caragh River boasts a stable popula-
tion level of spring salmon with few parallels throughout Ireland or even Europe.

One aspect of our commitment to maintaining the quality of our stock led us to establish a salmon hatchery
in the spring of 2001. This has made it possible to release several thousand smolts and some 20,000 salmon
fry into the Upper Caragh River each year.
